School Info

We are a small primary school in rural West Devon, with just two classes and a preschool which means we can welcome children from 3 years old. Our aim is to offer a high-quality curriculum, which is tailored to the needs of our learners, and offer children every opportunity to be active and creative learners. Our small size means that each and every child in our setting is treated as a unique individual.

We are lucky to have high adult to children ratios, which means we can get to know each child and their learning needs really well, and respond to these accordingly. We find that the school experience at Spreyton is pretty stress-free and calm for most children, and that children here play and learn with the whole school community, meaning that the younger children learn from and look up to the oldest ones, while the older children have a sense of responsibility for the younger ones.  In many ways it's like a big family!

We take every opportunity to get out and about on trips and visits, which we can do more affordably and more easily than most schools. We prioritise well-being, and often have whole school trips and off curriculum days to nurture creativity and provide space in nature.

We try to ensure that children get all the experiences and opportunities they would in a larger school, such as sports clubs and music lessons, while still maintaining that family feel which ensures children feel nurtured, supported and understood.

We are supported by a truly wonderful group of parents, including a very active PTA, and have many events for both children and parents which as well as raising money for the school, are also excellent fun!

If you would like to come and visit our lovely school, or would like to speak to me further about what we can offer your child, please don't hesitate to send a message or phone reception.
